Explore Lighthouse Cafe East Preston

If you find yourself wandering along Sea Road in East Preston, I’d definitely point you toward Lighthouse Cafe East Preston, a small but lively café that has built a strong reputation among locals for its generous portions, welcoming atmosphere, and consistently satisfying food. The café offers a wide-ranging menu that caters to all kinds of appetites, from hearty traditional English breakfasts to lighter options like salads, sandwiches, baguettes, bagels, and even bruschetta. Everything is prepared fresh, and that really comes through in the flavor-whether it’s a crispy chicken burger that’s perfectly cooked or a classic steak frites served in impressively large portions. One thing that stands out immediately is just how generous the servings are; you certainly won’t leave hungry, and in some cases, the portions might even feel a bit too abundant for lighter eaters. The drinks hold their own as well, with good-quality coffee that complements the food nicely. The café is also known for being dog-friendly, which adds to its relaxed, community-focused vibe, and the staff are consistently described as warm, approachable, and attentive, helping create a welcoming environment for both regulars and first-time visitors. The décor is simple but pleasant, making it a comfortable spot to sit and enjoy a meal, although during busy periods the space can feel a little hectic, and occasional mix-ups with orders may happen. Despite minor quirks like that-and even small practical details such as less-than-ideal cutlery for certain dishes-the overall experience is defined by flavorful food, fair pricing, and a menu that offers something for nearly everyone, including tempting specials that often leave a lasting impression.

Stopped by the Lighthouse Café in Littlehampton and was so impressed. I had the bruschetta to start — beautifully. For my main, I had the mussels, and they were absolutely delicious — fresh, perfectly cooked, and served in a rich, flavourful broth with crusty bread to soak it all up. The staff were lovely — friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The café has a cosy, coastal charm and a really relaxed atmosphere that made the whole experience even better. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. I’ll be back for sure!

Our group had a lovely Christmas lunch at the Lighthouse last week. The food was delicious and the service excellent. I enjoyed the turkey with all the trimmings, which was cooked perfectly and Christmas pudding with poached pear, nut brittle and thick cream to follow. It was great value for money. We have lunch there often, I thoroughly recommend it.

The most fantastic food/drink at a reasonable price. Been coming here for a while now and the food never disappoints. Had this from the specials board today and couldn’t believe how good it was, would love this to be on the menu permanently. There is something for everyone here.

This small, local café is the perfect place for breakfast. The menu offers a dozen different breakfast dishes to choose from. You can choose from various sandwiches - baguettes, bagels, bruschettas, several types of salads, and traditional English breakfast. The food is freshly prepared and very tasty. The portions are large and filling. The coffee is very good. The staff is friendly. The décor of the place is pleasant. With a significant number of customers, the café can be a bit chaotic. There are occasional mistakes with orders. For me, a big downside is the dull knives, which make cutting bruschetta difficult and quite tiring. The food and coffee were so good that I will definitely return.

Nice little café, we stopped for brunch and liquid refreshments. You order and pre-pay at the till and the friendly staff bring the order to your table. I have to comment on the poached eggs; they were cooked to perfection. The only disappointment was the English breakfast. The bacon was so overcooked that it was brittle and the sausage had an odd taste and odour. No complaints on the coffees or service.
